AgentOven vs Azure AI Foundry
Azure AI Foundry is Microsoft's platform for building and running agents on Azure. AgentOven is an open-source control plane that governs agents across Azure and every other cloud and framework, from one place you can self-host.
Choose Azure AI Foundry when
- Every agent is built and hosted on Azure
- You only use models available through Azure
- You want a fully managed, Microsoft-supported service
Choose AgentOven when
- Agents span Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or on-prem
- Teams use different frameworks: LangGraph, CrewAI, custom code
- You need one audit trail, cost view and approval flow across all of them
- You must self-host or run air-gapped
Using both together
Keep agents running on Azure where they are. Register them in AgentOven, route to Azure OpenAI models through the model router, and apply the same policies, audit and cost tracking you use for agents on other clouds.
How AgentOven works
- Govern: RBAC and SSO, scoped keys, guardrails including PII detection, cost tracking per agent, approval gates and an immutable audit trail.
- Connect: A2A between agents, MCP to tools, and a model router with fallback across providers.
- Prove: test suites, plus scenarios in a typed, simulated world graded on the state the agent changed (early access).
